Using Technology to Your Advantage

Aug 19, 2018

I always had the dream of teaching; I wanted to be a professor one day. That was my dream 17 years ago. So it's amusing because you never know where life is going to take you. I have zero desire to be a professor today, but I've always had a love for teaching.

It's amazing what technology has allowed me to do. I'm using my cell phone, pressing a button and using a platform that I paid $1,000 a year for, to host training and courses. One of the things that I always mention in my training is about social media and what are you doing with it? That's the big thing I want to tell you all today.

Technology... what are you doing with it?

Is technology using YOU or are YOU using technology?

I am using technology to broaden my reach, to help change a profession.

Is technology using you or are you just consuming information?  I tell this to my kids because they used to be on YouTube all damn day.

They followed my advice... and instead of watching other people all day, they are now creating their own videos and building a fan base.

My oldest daughter just reached 1.1k subscribers on youtube in 2 months.... @adryanazane on youtube

My oldest live streamingreaming on twitch and having people watch him play Fortnite.

EarIier in this blog, I said I wanted to be a professor right? I WANTED to be a professor; if I were a professor I'd be getting paid 70, 80, maybe 90 thousand dollars. I would have to drive my ass to work, working with some students. I'd probably have 50-65 students, right???

Presently most days, I do livestreams that reach 1k people per day... in my pajamas or my workout clothes....and I make way more than 90k... I'll just leave it at that.

We live in a different world, and I think the big thing that I want you guys to understand from this is that in the field of physical therapy today treating patients is still amazing. But treating patients never really is the endgame for most people anymore, or it's not what most people want the end game to be. Treating patients 40, 50, 60 hours a week, is just fine coming out of school.

And for some people, they don't even want to do that coming out of school, but I'm going to tell you right now talking to an OG here, treating patients 40, 50, 60 hours a week when you're 15, 16, 20 years out - is not very fun. Especially how reimbursement continues to go down if you're treating patients via insurance.

That's not fun.

What's fun though??

Influencing people. We want to be able to help people that have ailments, then able to help them get on the right track.

So why are you not using technology to be able to influence more people?

You could work twenty hours a week clinically, and still do the thing that you love, and you can work another twenty or thirty hours doing something else using technology to bless other people radically. And take your influence to another level.

Something I want you all to think about today.

What are your gifts?

1. What are your passions, what are your gifts?

2. What platform you can use to be able to get your gifts out?

3. Do you have tips that you believe people would pay for it?

If you can answer those questions, then you can start using technology instead of technology using you.
